Terms of Engagement
1. About these terms
These terms govern the relationship between FirewallForGen Ltd ("FirewallForGen", "we", "us") and any individual or organisation ("you", "the client") that engages us for cybersecurity consultancy services. They also cover general use of this website.
By using this website or commissioning services from us, you agree to these terms. Where a separate written service agreement has been signed, that agreement takes precedence over these general terms for the services covered by it.
2. Our services
FirewallForGen provides cybersecurity consultancy to small and medium-sized businesses in the United Kingdom. Our services include security audits, phishing defence assessments, staff awareness training, Cyber Essentials preparation, and incident response planning. The specific scope of any engagement is agreed in writing before work begins.
We are consultants, not a managed security service provider. Unless explicitly agreed otherwise, we do not provide ongoing monitoring, 24/7 support, or guaranteed response-time commitments.
3. Scope and limitations
Our assessments are conducted at a point in time and reflect the state of your systems and processes as we find them. Cybersecurity is not a solved problem — our work reduces risk, it does not eliminate it. We do not warrant that following our recommendations will prevent all security incidents.
We rely on the accuracy of information you provide. If material information is withheld or inaccurate, our assessment may be incomplete. We will flag this where we identify gaps, but we are not responsible for risks we were not in a position to identify.
4. Client responsibilities
You agree to provide reasonable access to personnel, systems, and documentation necessary for us to carry out agreed work. You are responsible for implementing any recommendations we make — we can advise and guide, but implementation decisions rest with you. Where we require written authorisation before conducting technical testing (such as network scanning), you agree to provide this promptly.
5. Confidentiality
We treat all client information as confidential. We will not disclose details of your systems, vulnerabilities, or business operations to third parties without your consent, except where required by law or where disclosure is necessary to prevent serious harm.
We ask that you treat our methodologies, reports, and deliverables with similar care. Our written reports are for your internal use and should not be shared publicly without our agreement.
6. Payment
Fees are agreed in writing before work commences. Unless otherwise specified, invoices are payable within 30 days of issue. We reserve the right to pause work on engagements where invoices remain unpaid beyond this period. Late payments may attract interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
7. Intellectual property
Reports, assessments, and written recommendations produced by FirewallForGen for a specific engagement are owned by you once payment has been received in full. Our underlying methodologies, frameworks, templates, and training materials remain our intellectual property. You may use these within your organisation but may not resell or redistribute them.
8. Liability
We carry professional indemnity insurance. Our total liability to you arising from any engagement is limited to the fees paid for that engagement. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, reputational damage, or the cost of a security incident that occurs after an engagement concludes.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other matter that cannot be limited by law.
9. Termination
Either party may terminate an engagement by giving 14 days' written notice. If you terminate an engagement, you are responsible for fees for work completed to the date of termination. If we terminate due to your material breach of these terms, the same applies. If we terminate for reasons of our own, we will refund any fees paid for work not yet delivered.
10. Website use
This website is provided for information purposes. The Threat Check tool on this site produces a general risk indicator based on your responses — it is not a formal security audit. Do not rely on it as a substitute for professional assessment.
We make reasonable efforts to keep the content on this site accurate and current, but we do not warrant that it is free from errors or that it reflects the most recent developments in cybersecurity practice.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when published on this page. If you have an active service agreement, changes will not affect that engagement unless agreed in writing.
